Inspired by All the Little Things #64

Welcome to another week of fabulous inspiration brought to you by the Inspired by All the Little Things challenge.

I love the gorgeous transition of copper to teal on those jars. Just stunning! Although I didn't have any copper embossing powder on hand, I did have rose gold which gave me the look I was going for.

On a white cardstock stitched panel I swiped a bright blue ink across the paper, leaving it streaky and not fully saturated in some parts. Once it was dry I swiped Versamark ink down the panel, sprinkled on the rose gold embossing powder, and heat set. I repeated this a few times to get the look I wanted. My sentiment and focal point is a gorgeous die cut from Pinkfresh Studio called Bright Side of Life. The entire panel is adhered to a white card base.

2017 Card Design Superstar contest!

It's time for another Card Design Superstar contest at My Favorite Things! I love how it challenges me to create to the best of my abilities and think outside the box, learn new techniques and introduces me to new-to-me cardmakers.

I LOVE bright, bold and sparkly and stayed true to my nature for my entry to the Clean & Simple Genius category. Also, may I point out that I would REALLY like to be given the label of genius in anything. I feel like that would earn me some serious respect with my kids! As in R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Have fun with that song in your head all day folks. ;)

My creation started off with a Sweet Tooth card base, with the smaller of the Peek-a-Boo Wonky Windows die cut in the upper half of the card. Below it in a crisp black ink I stamped the 'happy birthday' sentiment from Handwritten Happiness. Adhered behind the window are strips of coloured cardstock in rainbow order- Orange Zest, Daffodil, Sour Apple, Lush Lagoon, Sno Cone, Grape Jelly, and Razzle Berry. The final touch was adding a layer of Diamond Stickles over the entire rainbow for some serious glitter and shine. Glitter is always a winner in my house.  Really though, once you spill it, it NEVER goes away. Glitter everywhere and always.

Thank you so much for stopping in! Good luck to all the other participants and I can't wait to see all of YOUR cards too. So fun! Have a great day.

Inspired by All the Little Things #63

Yay! Our summer break is over and Inspired by All the Little Things is back for another season of bringing you fabulous inspiration to make your cardmaking fun and easy.

Here is a refresher on how the challenge works:
  1. Each week we will feature a Creative Guest Designer and an Inspiration Challenge.
  2. There are 4 of us on the team and we will each "design" a card for our hostess week. We each "host" one week in a month.
  3. The Creative Guest Designer will also share a project based on the Inspiration photo chosen by one of us.
  4. There will be a linky set up and you are welcome to play along with the "Inspiration" Challenge.
  5. The linky will open each Saturday at 5am (PST) and close each Thursday night at 11:59pm (PST).
  6. We will announce weekly "Stand Outs" on Saturday morning at 4am (PST)-one hour before our next challenge.

Now onto the gorgeous inspiration for this week!

Isn't that lovely? I loved the elegance, the florals, and the colours of the photo...basically all of it. :)

Glitter paper, gold embossing powder and a fabulous sentiment from My Favorite Things paired with the AMAZING Peony Bloom layering die set from Birch Press Designs helped complete my creation. The 'you' was stacked three times for dimension.

We're all so glad to be back after our hiatus, and I can't wait to see what YOU create based on this inspiration. You can link up your cards at the main blog post. Happy cardmaking!

Laugh, Smile, LOVE

Summer has flown by here and boy has our family been busy! Baseball, baseball, and more baseball it seems...and not much time for creativity. Luckily as summer winds down, there is more time for me to get crafty in my studio. I'm excited to play along today with two fun challenges!

Both the gorgeous Curtain Call- Hibiscus inspiration AND the Ellen Hutson August Pin-Sights challenge jumped out to me as I was pulling out my stamps the other day and so I happily played along. I stamped the flower and leaves from Mondo Peony in black ink and watercoloured them in with Distress markers. The sentiment is from Lovely. A stitched edge and a few clear sequins finish off the panel, and it is all adhered to a kraft card base.

I felt a little rusty getting inky and messy in my studio after a long summer hiatus, but I think I have shook all that off and am back to my creative self. :) Thanks for stopping in today and I'll see you again soon!

Muse Guest Designer

I am so excited to be the guest designer this week for the Muse challenge! This was perfect for getting me out my cardmaking funk.  I have hardly been in my crafty corner yet this summer because we have been so busy with loads of activities. It was nice to slow down and create something. I feel like I'm on a roll now! :)

Here's my card:

Do you need to go put your sunglasses on? It's crazy, isn't it?! My daughter and I have been experimenting with acrylic paint pouring on canvas this summer and I figured I could do it on a smaller scale using watercolour paper. I simply added my paints until the paper was covered, then swiped it off in a downward motion. Once it was dry I flicked on some white acrylic paint. The sentiment comes from the Say Hello dies by Concord & 9th and was adhered with foam tape for dimension. Doesn't it look straight from the 90's? So much neon! There are so many paint pouring YouTube videos out there; don't be afraid to check them out!

Head on over to the Muse challenge and play along with us! I can't wait to see how you are inspired.

Hello friends! It's a gorgeous Wednesday here in my neck of the woods and I have a happy card to share with you today for my Paper Smooches guest designer feature. It's my final Wednesday with them, and I have had SO much fun playing with their product.

I used the House Plant die and added some super cute googly eyes to it. The cup is covered with Stickles glitter. That lovely sentiment is from Kindness Sampler

Inspired by All the Little Things #62

Welcome to our last Inspired by All the Little Things challenge for the summer! We will be back in September with more amazing inspiration for you and hope you enjoy the break. The amazing Amy Kolling is our guest designer this week and you will love what she came up with. Isn't that a fun inspiration photo? So many possibilities!

Here's my creation:
I used Dotty Turnabout from Concord & 9th for my background and cut it out with a stitched rectangle die. It's adhered to the white card base with foam adhesive. The sentiment from Oh, Hello Turnabout what embossed in white on dark pink cardstock and I filled the 'hello' in with Stickles glitter. A few sequins finish it off.

Head on over to the Inspired By blog and check out what the rest of the design team came up with. We hope you'll play along with us in this last challenge for the season! Have a happy Saturday.

Paper Smooches June guest designer

I'm back for another week as the June guest designer for Paper Smooches. Happily, Canada Post FINALLY delivered my new release parcel so I am playing with the latest stamps and dies this week. Many of you already have them in your hands so you know THEY ARE AWESOME.

I used Garden Blooms dies and the Kindness Sampler stamp set for my card today. I adhered the die cuts, heat embossed the sentiment and added some gold sequins filled with Stickles glitter.

Thanks for stopping in today! I'll be back next week with another Paper Smooches feature. Have a great day!

Inspired by All the Little Things #61

I don't know where that gorgeous window is located, but I do know I'd love to be looking out of it! So pretty! Dreamy shades of purple/blue, florals, and that lovely window are the inspiration for this week's Inspired by All the Little Things challenge.

Here's my take on the challenge:
I die cut the Peekaboo Window from my white card base, and added some patterned paper behind it. The floral spray was coloured with Copic markers and has some Diamond Stickles added here and there. It's adhered with foam tape to pop it off the card base.  The sentiment was embossed using white embossing powder directly on the patterned paper.

Play along with us this week using the gorgeous inspiration photo as your starting point. The linky will close on Friday, 23 June at 11:55am (PST) and can be found HERE on the Inspired By blog. While you're there, check out what the rest of my talented teammates came up with!!

Paper Smooches June Guest Designer

I am excited to be back for another week as the June Guest Designer for Paper Smooches

Every Wednesday in June you will see a creation from me using fabulous product from this fun company. Check out their blog for details on how YOU can play along in their monthly challenge and win a chance at being a guest designer too! Yet again for this week, the new product has not made its way to me yet...seriously. What is UP with that?!  For today I have used older, but still fabulous stamps. :)

For my card today, I used Best Buds and paper pieced it with some pretty patterned paper. I added some shading with Copic markers and glittered up the flower centres with Stickles...because SPARKLE people. Always sparkle.  The edges of the white card base were inked with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink, and I flicked on a few splatters of it as well. The sentiment is from Chit Chat

Thanks for stopping in and have an excellent Wednesday! Hugs!

Inspired by All the Little Things #60

Happy Saturday everyone! Saturday means a new Inspired by All the Little Things challenge and I'm here to show you what I created for it this week.

I love the fresh white on white look and earthy florals of the inspiration photo and made something similar for my card today. The new Fiori plates from Birch Press worked perfectly for this!

I used Fiori Plate Layer B die cut from white cardstock and layered it over a white card base. The centrepiece was created by die cutting the Thinking of You base from Concord & 9th and backing it with different coloured cardstock. The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp and was cut in gold glitter paper. A few pale pink sequins were added to draw in the pink from the inspiration photo.

Hop on over to the Inspired By blog and see what the rest of my talented teammates have come up with!! I can't wait to see what you create with this lovely inspiration photo.

Paper Smooches June Guest Designer

I am super duper excited to be the June Guest Designer for Paper Smooches.

Every Wednesday in June you will see a creation from me using fabulous product from this fun company. Check out their blog for details on how YOU can play along in their monthly challenge and win a chance at being a guest designer too!

For today's card I used the Adorable Array die paired with a sentiment from Delightful Greetings.

The rainbow striped cardstock piece was made using thin strips of scrap cardstock and double sided tape. I die cut the floral piece from it and from white cardstock and paper pieced the striped parts back in for a fun inlay look. The sentiment was embossed in white on the grey card base and a few clear sequins are the finishing touch. It doesn't show well in the photo, but there are sparkly dots of Stickles in the center of each sequin for some sparkle and shine!

I'm hoping Canada Post will deliver the new release to me ASAP so next week I can show you some of this month's fabulous Paper Smooches release!

That's all for today. Thanks for stopping in!

Inspired by All the Little Things #59

Bright and beautiful florals in a lush palette of colours are the inspiration this week for the latest Inspired by All the Little Things challenge.

I stamped Kind Soul from WPlus 9 along the top and bottom corners and then die cut the panel using a stitched rectangle die. The flowers were watercoloured using Zig markers and once dry I added some details using Copic markers. The stamped sentiment and die cut "you" are from the May MFT Sketchy Flowers card kit. I used a sparkly silver embossing powder on the die cut. A few clear sequins finish off the panel and it is all adhered using foam tape to a white card base.

Happy Saturday to you all! It's time to head over to the Inspired By blog and see what the rest of my talented teammates have come up with this week! Play along with us...I'd love to see what you create using this gorgeous floral inspiration photo. Details on how to join us are here.

Create Together with Ardyth and Stephanie

I had the opportunity to get together last weekend with a group of four Ontario cardmakers and we had SO much fun. Two days/nights of excellent food, lack of sleep and lots of visiting and cardmaking. The laughs and creativity were flowing! While there, Stephanie experimented with a few of the new Distress Oxide inks from Ranger and gave Ardyth and I each a panel to play around with.

We are all posting together today so you can see what each of us came up with!

I decided to let the panel take centre stage and not cover it up too much.
I used a rubber stamp from Michael's for my cactus image and stamped it in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured it in with Copic markers. The sentiment was created using Milo's ABC's from Lawn Fawn and was heat embossed in white directly on the panel. I fussy cut the image and adhered it beside the sentiment using foam tape. There's a thin pink mat around the inked panel and that is all adhered using more foam tape right to the white card base. The final touch was a few homemade enamel dots using Nuvo drops.

Now it's time to head on over to Stephanie and Ardyth's blog to see what they came up with using their pretty panels! You will LOVE what they came up with!

Thanks for stopping in today! I'm linking up to the current Curtain Call challenge which is a gorgeous succulent inspiration photo.

Inspired by All the Little Things #58

Happy Saturday! I'm in the midst of a crafty retreat weekend with a bunch of Ontario cardmaking ladies and I'm having SO much fun. It's rare I get the chance to get away and soak up the creativity of my peers. Do it if you get the chance!

Today's inspiration for the Inspired by All the Little Things challenge is just gorgeous. I would buy those vases if I saw them in real life. Totally my style. I decided to get glittery for my card today, and was inspired by a recent card by Jeanne Jachna for Birch Press Design found here.

I used the Leaves Cover Panel from Reverse Confetti and die cut it from white cardstock and then layered it over a piece of Be Creative tape that was cut to fit the front of my card base. I added the glitter one colour at a time, using a coffee filter and Swiffer dust cloth to clean up any mess. I find that ultrafine glitter works best as it sticks to adhesive more readily than chunkier glitter. The sentiment was made from the Sparkle and Shine stamp set and coordinating die cuts from WPlus9.

Thanks for stopping in today! Hop on over to the Inspired By blog to see what the rest of my amazing teammates have come up with! Enjoy your weekend.

Inspired by All the Little Things #57

What is more spring-like than a colourful bouquet of gorgeous tulips? The Inspired by All the Little Things challenge this week is SO lovely and made me think of watercolouring spring flowers.

I used a paintable print from Simon Says Stamp (In Full Bloom) and my Zig markers to colour it. A stitched edge, just a few sequins, and an embossed sentiment keep it simple and allow the colours to take center stage.

Where will this inspiration photo take you? I hope you will play along with us this week. Details are here on how to join us and I can't wait to see what you come up with! Happy Saturday.

Inspired by All the Little Things #56

I thought since it's the day before Mother's Day here, it was the perfect opportunity to use the Inspired by All the Little Things challenge to create a card for my mom! That lovely floral bouquet served as my inspiration.

I used the Color Pop Florals kit from Papertrey Ink for my flowers. Some are the pre-printed pieces included with the kit, and some are stenciled, stamped, and die cut myself. I arranged them all and adhered them to a Drop Cover Panel die cut background from Reverse Confetti (possibly my new favourite die!). The sentiment is from Family Ties by PTI. A few clear sequins finish it off.

Hop on over to the Inspired By blog if you haven't already been there to see what my amazing teammates came up with this week. You'll love it! Play along with us this week...I can't wait to see what you create.

Happy Saturday, and Happy Mother's Day to the mommas. Hugs.

Amazing Florals

Die-cutting is my favourite thing to do lately. My Big Shot has been getting a workout with me cutting every die in sight. I love being able to mix and match, paper piece, put together...all of the above. The beautiful Roses die from Paper Smooches let me do all that.

I cut the largest flower from the die collection several times and then used all the multi-coloured pieces to create a few really funky flowers! For the above card I stamped a sentiment from Chit Chat and added a few sequins.

There were a few extra flowers so I couldn't just stop at one card...
Patterned papers, simple sentiments and those bold flowers make for some really stunning cards! I love how they all turned out.

I'm playing along in the May Paper Smooches challenge which uses FLOWERS as the theme.

Thanks for stopping in, and have a great day!

Inspired by All the Little Things #55

Are you staying dry? We've experienced several days of heavy rain in our area and I'm starting to wonder if I need to build an ark lol! Luckily I live on a big hill and don't have much concern for flooding...but it's still pretty soggy around here.

This week's Inspired by All the Little Things challenge has a gorgeous floral inspiration that just delighted me. I love those colours! That rustic chair! Wow.
Here's how I interpreted it:
Dreamy patterned papers from the Chasing Dreams collection by Crate Paper, paired with vellum and some pretty die cuts put this card together nicely. It's hard to tell in this photo, but the die cuts and sentiment are adhered to the vellum which allowed me to put a little glue under those pieces and glue the vellum panel to the patterned paper with no adhesive peeking through anywhere. The sentiment (the die cut and the stamped part) is from two different My Favorite Things sets. They have such inspirational sayings that are perfect on cards that I can send out to any of my friends.

You can see that my colours are more pink than the inspiration photo...oh well. It's all in how you see it, right?! :)

Thanks for stopping in today. Don't forget to head on over to the Inspired By blog to see what the rest of my teammates came up with! Have a great day.

Rainy days around here lately...might seem dreary to some, but for me it means cozying up my studio and not feeling guilty about spending so much time making stuff. :)

I have a bold and bright card today that I just love. Saturated red, pink and purple paired with aqua and white. LOVE.  I used Flashy Florals coordinating stamps and dies by My Favorite Things and paired them with a lovely sentiment from Thanks So Very Much. The font in that stamp set is ALLLLL the heart eyes.  Peek-a-Boo Polka Dots provides the fun background and of COURSE sequins and tiny spots of Stickles glitter finish it off.

My inspiration comes from the latest The Card Concept challenge. Even though the Linky Tool is currently broken, be sure to add your card to their Facebook page!

Thanks for stopping in today, and have a GREAT day!

Curtain Call- Flutter

I am so thrilled to be the guest designer for the current Curtain Call inspiration challenge! For the 'how-to' on how to participate in this fun challenge, head here for details.

Isn't that a pretty inspiration photo? I love butterflies; I even have two butterfly tattoos! The butterflies stood out to me as well as the colour palette, so I let that lead me for my creation today.

The gorgeous Chasing Dreams 6x6 collection by Crate Paper had the perfect piece of patterned paper in it that suited the challenge perfectly. I cut the paper with a stitched rectangle die and adhered it to a dark grey card base. The butterfly focal point is a die cut piece from an older Heidi Swapp collection. I just coated it with Versamark and heat embossed it with silver sparkle powder and added a few enamel dots. The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp Stripe Greetings set and was heat embossed on vellum using Peppermint Tea powder by WOW.

Head on over to the Curtain Call blog to see the rest of the design team's gorgeous creations. Thanks so much for stopping in today! Happy Monday!

Inspired by All the Little Things #54

Today's inspiration for the latest Inspired by All the Little Things challenge is so fresh and right up my alley.  That bookcase is just gorgeous BUT mine would have far more books on it. I'm an avid reader and worked as a librarian for a few years.

I loved the linear look of the books on the shelves, the colour scheme and the framed antlers. All that shows up in my card today. (Sorry for the lackluster photo- the lighting was really off!)

On a white card base I adhered strips of aqua and yellow cardstock. The deer head is an older die from We R Memory Keepers and was cut from a woodgrain paper.  The sentiment is from Neat & Tangled.

That's all for today! Have a great Saturday and don't forget to check out the rest of the design team's creations at the Inspired By blog.
